Devoted Australian Youth (DAY Inc) was founded in 2012 by a group of social science students who, frustrated by the lack of opportunities to gain real-world experience in their field, decided to create their own. What began as a small initiative to fill the gap between study and practical work has evolved into a national platform empowering young Australians to build meaningful work experience while contributing to their communities. DAY Inc is driven by the belief that you don’t have to wait for opportunities—you can create them. Today, the organisation runs dynamic, youth-led projects addressing real social issues through monthly idea submissions, community voting, and flexible volunteer involvement. From mental health blogs and charity support to financial literacy and start-up education, DAY Inc gives young people the chance to lead, learn, and make a tangible difference. Every project is designed to offer real experience, real impact, and a sense of purpose—because, as their slogan says, “What can you do in a Day?” turns out to be quite a lot.
