The Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway (KTMW) is a not-for-profit organisation that relies heavily upon a dedicated and passionate group of Volunteers/Guides to meet its primary objectives of 'education' and 'commemoration'. The Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway is a war memorial and walking track that serves as a unique tribute to the Australian troops who fought in the World War II Papua-New Guinea campaign of July 1942 till December 1943. The Walkway serves as a focal point for local, state and national representatives to honour the service of those who fought in Papua New Guinea, and to ensure the service and sacrifices of those individuals is passed on to current and future generations, particularly school children. As well as hosting school and community groups during the year, the Walkway also holds 3 Commemoration Services a year - Anzac Day, Victory in the Pacific and Kokoda Day - where Federal, State and Local Government members, Diplomatic Corp members, ex-service representatives, Defence personnel, school and community groups, as well as local community members, gather together to remember and honour the sacrifices made during World War Two with an emphasis on the Kokoda Campaign.
