Coolamon Community

Coolamon Community is a First Nations–led charity dedicated to giving Aboriginal mothers and their babies the strongest start in life. We work in partnership with Aboriginal Health Services across regional and remote Australia to provide “The Coolamon” — a culturally grounded safe sleep space and care bundle filled with essentials for the first months of life. This becomes an essential resource as part of pre and postnatal care with AHS. Based in the Northern Rivers, we are powered by a passionate volunteer team from across Byron Shire and surrounding regions. Our volunteer team are here to make a difference for others and to personally enjoy the journey. Every Coolamon is gifted by trusted Aboriginal midwives and health workers, ensuring mothers receive support in a safe and culturally respectful way. Our work is life-changing: it prevents infant deaths, eases the burden on families, and restores trust where health systems have failed.
