Maltese Aged Care Association (SA) Inc (MACASA)

Founded in 1994, MACASA is a not-for-profit organisation based in Cheltenham, South Australia, dedicated to providing ethno-specific aged care services for Maltese seniors—as well as supports for members of the broader community who share their cultural background or who benefit from culturally and linguistically appropriate care. MACASA's core role is to initiate, develop, and deliver services that help older, frail or disabled people to continue living independently at home. These services include culturally-appropriate hot meals delivered weekdays, a frozen meals program, social support (individual and group activities), transport assistance, domestic assistance, and full-day outings. Volunteers are essential to MACASA’s work—they help deliver meals, support in the kitchen, assist with administration, and contribute to the management committee. The organisation provides required training, prioritises cultural and linguistic appropriateness, and ensures that its services evolve to meet community needs. With over 25,000 meals served in the 2025 financial year, averaging about 500 meals weekly, MACASA combines heritage, compassion, and practical support to enrich the lives of older Maltese people and others in South Australia.
