About The Workshed Inner West Inc. The Workshed Inner West Inc. is a not-for-profit incorporated association based in St Lucia, Brisbane (Queensland), dedicated to empowering women through creativity, connection, and community engagement. Founded in 2024 and officially incorporated in 2025, The Workshed was established to provide a welcoming, safe, and inclusive space for women aged 18 and over to come together, learn new skills, and support one another in a positive, community-driven environment. Our Mission To create a space where creativity and wellbeing meet — offering opportunities for women to explore practical skills, reconnect socially, and find purpose and confidence through community activity. Our Vision A thriving Inner West community where women of all backgrounds feel connected, capable, and supported — building resilience, friendship, and belonging through shared creative experiences. What We Do The Workshed goals are to hosts a wide range of programs, workshops, and social activities designed to inspire learning and connection. These include: Creative workshops such as woodworking, craft, sewing, art, and sustainable DIY. Health and wellbeing sessions, including gentle fitness, walking groups, and mindfulness programs. Educational events with guest speakers, life-skills classes, and community discussions. Social connection activities such as book clubs, language classes, social outing and volunteer gatherings. Through these activities, we aim to reduce social isolation, enhance mental wellbeing, and foster a culture of mutual support and empowerment. Community & Support The Workshed Inner West is supported by Brisbane City Councillor Cr Penny Wolff and operates in collaboration with local partners, community organisations, and volunteers. We are currently developing our base of operations and seeking opportunities to expand our programs and reach within the community. Governance & Structure The Workshed is governed by a volunteer Management Committee under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981 (Qld) and adheres to good-governance principles outlined by the ACNC and Office of Fair Trading QLD. Our focus on transparency, inclusion, and accountability ensures that all activities are aligned with our community purpose. Our Impact Every event, workshop, and volunteer hour helps strengthen the social fabric of Brisbane’s Inner West — creating pathways for women to connect, share experiences, and grow personally and collectively. The Workshed is not just a place — it’s a community movement where women support women, creativity thrives, and wellbeing flourishes.
