Shrine of Remembrance

The Shrine of Remembrance was founded in 1934 as the National War Memorial of Victoria. Our purpose, vision, mission and people are at the heart of everything we do. Our enduring purpose is to be a memorial to honour the service and sacrifice of Victorians and Australians in war, peacemaking and peacekeeping and as a site of national, state and cultural significance. We do this by: • engaging more than one million people annually as visitors and participants in our commemorative and education programs • conducting more than 160 commemorative ceremonies each year, including major Anzac Day and Remembrance Day services • developing and delivering high quality education and learning programs to students and communities across Victoria
