American Football South Australia (AFSA) is the official governing body for American football — often called gridiron — in the state of South Australia. Established in 1985 as the Gridiron Association of South Australia, AFSA has been at the forefront of developing and promoting the sport locally for nearly four decades, fostering an inclusive and vibrant football community. Based at Dry Creek Reserve in Adelaide, AFSA oversees senior and junior tackle football competitions played under International Federation of American Football (IFAF) rules. With multiple active clubs — including the UniSA Eagles, Adelaide Uni Hogs, South City Chiefs, and Port Adelaide Spartans — the league offers pathways for players of all ages and skill levels to get involved, compete, and grow.
