Logo for Hunter Community Legal Centre Inc

Hunter CLC was established in 1991 as a not-for-profit community legal centre to provide free legal advice, assistance and representation for those with the most need in the Newcastle and Hunter region. Community legal centres play a pivotal role in increasing access to justice and legal assistance for individuals and serve as crucial pillars of support for communities that are marginalised and affected by disadvantage. By increasing access to justice and working with the most disadvantaged members of our community, we are uniquely positioned to identify and address unmet areas of legal need. Our team of generalist and specialist solicitors, pro-bono partners, admin staff and student volunteers are dedicated to improving access to justice. For more than 30 years our work has ranged from general advice to limited casework and submissions on law reform, with often small but targeted advice having a large and positive impact on the lives of our clients. In order for Hunter CLC to maintain its commitment to free legal services, we are assisted by a dedicated team of volunteers from law students, through to pro bono solicitors and firms and doners who help us meet our funding needs. Hunter CLC welcomes volunteering applications from legally qualified and non-legally qualified volunteers.
