The Sydney University Settlement

The Settlement is a for-purpose community organisation that has been working with disadvantaged and vulnerable young people, women, children and families in the City of Sydney and more broadly across the Sydney Basin as for more than 130 years. The Settlement, based in Edward Street Darlington, is NSW’s oldest charity. This extraordinary organisation, staffed with a dynamic and committed team is a respected and much-loved part of the community. The Settlement’s work provides support for clients and includes children’s programs, child, youth, and family casework and counselling, and youth leadership programs. A particular focus of The Settlement’s work is providing opportunities for young Aboriginal people and their families, who represent 70% of those using the organisation’s services. The Settlement also holds a substantial residential property portfolio in the Darlington area which provides much needed social housing for the inner Sydney community.
