SOPHIE'S LEGACY INCORPORATED

Dr. Sophie Putland was a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a beloved veterinarian, who tragically took her own life in September 2021. The pressures of the veterinary industry became overwhelming for her. Family and friends established Sophie’s Legacy to honour her memory and advocate for change within the industry. We started by listening to veterinary staff, understanding challenges in the industry and acted. We wanted to create a brighter future for all who work in this industry. Sophie's Legacy exists to reduce the suicide rate in the veterinary industry. Our vision is a veterinary industry where every staff member feels safe, valued, supported and able to thrive. Sophie's Legacy has and will continue to engage with industry and government to influence policy and will run education campaigns to raise awareness of the challenges and support change
