Sing Sing Sing is Queensland’s first choir for people living with dementia and their carers. Sing Sing Sing has two choirs (in Bulimba and Redland City) with around 100 people singing each week. Sing Sing Sing offers a high quality, professional and inclusive experience for people living with dementia and their carers, providing choir members with the opportunity to: - share the joy of singing together in a choir - learn new skills and new music - experience the benefits of achieving with others - be seen (through performance and other events) as valued members of the community with their own stories and rich and interesting lived experiences - connect with others in the choir with opportunities to socialise and share experiences - participate in something enjoyable together with a loved one/family member Led by an experienced Musical Director, the choirs meet weekly in school terms. During those rehearsals, choir members prepare to sing using a variety of fun physical and vocal warm ups, learn choral skills and sing both new and familiar songs together. An important part of the program is a break for morning tea, which is an opportunity to connect with others. The choirs host their own concerts and perform at community and professional events and each year, the choirs hold several “come and sing with us” rehearsals inviting family, friends and community to share the joy of singing with us. Sing Sing Sing is a registered charity with DGR status and has been recognised by Dementia Australia’s Dementia Friendly Communities Program. We are a volunteer run company limited by guarantee with a small Board of volunteer Directors.
