ACT Parks and Conservation Service

The ACT Parks and Conservation Service (PCS) is responsible for the management of the ACT’s national parks and reserves, including water catchments. This makes up more than 70% of the ACT. PCS is responsible for reserve and conservation management, visitor experience and community wellbeing, threatened species programs, fire management, invasive species and wildlife management, environmental offsets, pine plantations and more. The ParkCare initiative has been a flagship community volunteer program hosted by the ACT Parks and Conservation Service since 1989. We work in partnership with the community to provide opportunities for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to become involved in volunteer programs. ParkCare volunteers directly contribute to the conservation works of PCS, including improved environmental, social and educational outcomes for the ACT.
