The East Gidgegannup Volunteer Bushfire Brigade has been in operation in one form or another since the early 1960s. The East Gidge Brigade covers an area of 333.5 square kilometres The Brigade is registered with the City of Swan and operates under the authority of the City's Chief Bush Fire Control Officer, in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Swan and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES).
