The LearnIT Learner Driver Mentoring Program has been designed and developed to address the two critical barriers to employment for young people in our community:

  • Access to work through providing driving skills and provisional license
  • Development of social and work readiness skills through mentoring

The program mentoring provides structure and support that enhances the communication, time management, work readiness and relationship skills supporting and developing self-esteem and improving mental health. This is achieved through a skills and competency based five stage driving program which results in our young people attaining their provisional license and becoming safe and proficient drivers. Licensing and employment are crucial to the prosperity of our community and therefore giving young people the skills to obtain these, is a responsibility of our community. LearnIT provides the foundation and the catalyst to solve this program but the solution can only be achieved with support from the community through the provision of volunteers, in kind support and sponsorship.
