Join the St Vincent de Paul Society as a Refugee Tutor and help families from refugee backgrounds settle into life in Townsville by simply spending one hour a week with them in their home. No teaching experience or qualifications needed—just your time, patience, and kindness. What Will You Do? • Visit a refugee family at home for 1 hour per week • Support adults or children with basic English conversation or homework • Help build confidence in everyday tasks like reading, writing, or chatting • Provide friendship, encouragement, and a warm local connection • Work alongside another volunteer – we match you in pairs It’s not about being a teacher — it’s about being present, supportive, and genuine.
