Volunteer Supporting Our seniors with Digital Mentoring.

We are seeking volunteer mentors to assist learners over the age of 50 to become digital literate. Inspire learners one-on-one or in a small group to get online and develop digital skills.
Learners will range in their skills from having no prior experience to intermediate. Possible topics may include:

What is a computer?
What is the internet
How to use a keyboard
Safe passwords
Paying safely online
Using the internet
How to use social media, WhatsApp, saving photos and attachments staying safe online

Students face different barriers to accessing digital devices. Some are scared of using a computer while others may find it challenging or have limited access to one. It is important that you, as a mentor, are aware of these barriers and have a lot of patience and offer support to the learner.

Training

You will receive an induction, including online training. Learning materials are available for you to use, including a range of videos and online exercises.

Time required

Become a Seniors Digital Mentor and help older members of our community build confidence with technology. Whether it’s using smartphones, emails, online services, your support can make a real difference. This is a fantastic opportunity for: • University students looking to gain experience and give back • Retirees wanting to stay connected and engaged • Part-time workers with a few spare hours to share No teaching experience is required. Make a meaningful contribution as a volunteer.
