Are you a good listener and communicator with a genuine interest in others? Community Support Workers assist clients experiencing financial hardship through advocacy, information, referral and material aid. Ability to work well in a diverse team is essential. CSF services include emergency financial assistance, client advocacy and community information. The Agency is looking for Community Support Workers to access and assist local residents experiencing financial hardship through advocacy, referral and material aid to ensure the best options are offered to meet each individual's circumstance. All Community Workers must complete the accredited CHCCCS004 (Assess Co-Existing Needs) Key responsibilities

  1. Interview & assess clients impartially in relation to their needs and enquiries
  2. Supply appropriate support to clients and follow up situations where required
  3. Provide accurate information and/or referral to appropriate agencies
  4. Advocate and negotiate on behalf of the client when required
  5. Consult with the Team Leader, Operations Coordinators or Manager when in doubt or unsure of planned action
  6. Maintain an enthusiastic, cooperative and friendly approach when working with agency staff, volunteers, clients and referring agencies
  7. Maintain current knowledge of the agency’s information resources
  8. Maintain an understanding of local current issues
