Community Visitor - Let's Make Friends

As an Advocare volunteer you will be visiting older people within your community . This is a rewarding opportunity. They may just want someone to talk to, play a board game or go for a walk. We work with the person to find out what is best suited for them. Your role will have a positive impact on an older person giving them the opportunity to connect with their community and eliminate the feeling of loneliness.

We are looking for a visitor that would like to visit residents throughout the City of Swan area.

Commitment

Regular - more than 6 months

Training

Full induction and training provide before placement with a resident or client eg. Dementia training

Time required

2 hours per week.

Reimbursement

Honorarium payment is made to the volunteer monthly of $10.00 per visit. Cost of police clearance.

Requirements

Covid-19 vaccination
National Police Certificate

• Attend relevant volunteer training, inductions and meetings. • Follow instruction and guidelines of the Residential Aged Care Facility including signing in and out. • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds. • To work within Advocare Policy and Procedures. • Inform Advocare staff of any concerns or changes with the older persons. • Keep attendance records of each visit and submit at the end of the month. • Respect the rights of the older person. • To work in a safe manner and report any hazards and incidents injuries or property damage to Advocare Volunteer Coordinator. • Lead, role model and comply with all health, safety and hygiene policies, systems and OH&S legislation to maintain an appropriate working environment.
