The Hub 6163 is looking for a volunteer to coordinate their monthly Repair Hub and support their program with a great social and environmental impact!

The Repair Hub Coordinator leads and manages the monthly Repair Hub at The Hub 6163 in Hamilton Hill. This role involves organising repairers, engaging with the community, and ensuring the hub operates smoothly. It is an excellent opportunity to develop leadership, communication, and people management skills while supporting an impactful social and environmental program.

The Repair Hub is a lively quarterly event that brings community members together to have broken items repaired by skilled volunteers. The Coordinator oversees all aspects of the Repair Hub, fostering a welcoming and efficient environment. This role supports community connections, reduces waste, and celebrates volunteering.

This role could be managed by one person or shared with a friend.

Skills and Qualities • Friendly and approachable nature and enthusiasm for community engagement. • Willingness to adapt, take initiative and provide support wherever needed. • Enjoys working with a variety of people. • Passion for creating safe and welcoming spaces. • Physical capability to assist with tasks such as lifting trestle tables and stacking chairs.

Key Tasks

  • Coordinate the Repair Hub, currently the third Sunday of Feb, May, August and November.
  • Work with the Hub Administrator to create and share promotional materials via social media and community boards.
  • Collaborate with the Hub’s Volunteer Coordinator to identify, recruit, retain, roster and onboard new volunteers. Provide support and guidance to ensure a positive volunteer experience.
  • Oversee the hub's setup and pack-down (e.g., tables, chairs, signage). Manage the day's activities and ensure all operations run smoothly.
  • Liaise with the Hub Committee to purchase and organise repair materials and tools.
  • Foster connections between attendees, volunteers, and community members.
  • Share volunteer achievements and success stories through various channels.
  • Maintain Repair Hub records.
  • Report any health and safety concerns promptly to ensure a safe environment.
  • Provide feedback to the Committee to improve future events.
