This role requires a reliable and caring individual who approaches each interaction with integrity, honesty, and a genuine commitment to supporting our applicants. It is desirable that the successful applicant can commit to the role for a minimum of 6 months and approximately 3 hours of volunteer time per week to maximise the benefits of experience and training in the role, days & times to suit your availability.

The role includes:

  • Demonstrate understanding and empathy with the mission and ethos of the St Vincent de Paul Society and ensure the Society’s values are incorporated into all aspects of the performance of the role

  • Take reasonable care for your own safety and that of others in line with policy and procedures
  • Identify and report hazards within 24 hours of them occurring on the incident reporting system
  • Manage day to day risks in line with policy and procedures
  • Answering telephone calls promptly and courteously
  • Responding to enquiries in an efficient and timely manner by phone or email
  • Send out loan application packs to prospective borrowers via mail or email
  • Assist applicants in collecting and checking their loan application documents
  • Support general office duties as needed
  • Entering information into the specialised NILS software, MyNILSapp
  • Help manage diaries,including booking and following up on client loan interview appointments.
  • Help support the promotion of the NILs program within the community
  • Respect client confidentiality and adhere to Good Shepherd Australia & New Zealand and the Society’s policies and procedures.
