OC Connections

As a member of the OC Connections, Volunteers will support staff and participants with a variety of tasks to assist with the delivery of the OCC programs.

You will be supporting participants reach goals, preferences, and support requirements through daily activities such as cooking, arts and crafts, outings, sharing a hobby or in a work environment. Whilst assisting the OCC departments with activities onsite and offsite relevant to the teams’ requirements and fundraising events.

You can provide social support & companionship, be a leisure buddies, support a program, assist with arts & crafts, games and sports, dancing, cooking, gardening and maintenance, excursions, fundraising and events, assist supported employees and share your professional skills.

On the job training is provided for all positions, as well as one to one orientation at registration.

Accountabilities

  • Assist the people we support to reaching their goals, preferences and support requirements.
  • Support individuals to participate actively in their daily routines and activities. Provide the minimum support required for them to be able to successfully complete any task using an active support model.
  • Support OCC staff, Allied Health Professionals and other relevant professionals to ensure the person we support has relevant support plans in place that will benefit their care and service.
  • Assist OCC Staff in program delivery to participants.
  • Provide participants face to face and non-face to face support as required.
  • Comply with OCC Departments requirements for the volunteered agreement.
  • Be punctual, complete volunteer program hours and make efficient use of time spent at OCC.
  • Assist OCC departments with activities onsite and offsite relevant to the teams’ requirements.
  • Assist OCC in fundraising events
  • Always adhered to all OCC Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures including those for hazard identification, risk control, injury and incident reporting. Take responsibility to protect your own health and safety.

  • A positive attitude and an ability to respond creatively in providing the support necessary for the people we support to achieve their dreams and goals.
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to volunteer and communicate effectively with people with a disability.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both supervised and with limited supervision with a substantial level of accountability.
  • Demonstrated ability to work either individually or in a team.
  • Well-developed communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and numerical skills.
