Activities Assistant - Townsville

We are seeking a volunteer to assist in mobilising residents in wheelchairs from their rooms to the recreational room for activities, sitting with residents during activities and returning residents to their rooms following activities.

This role also involves helping with the set-up and clean-up of various activities, decorating the facility and generally assisting the Diversional Therapists.

We are looking for someone who is personable, sociable, caring, a good listener and communicator.

In return, you will have the satisfaction of providing a service in a busy aged care facility and gain experience in working with elderly residents and gaining some new skills.

A reference can be provided if required.

Requirements for this position include a National Police Check and a 3 hour orientation with a range of online courses using a computer.

All Volunteers are required to:

• Be computer literate
• Be prepared to do ongoing (annual) mandatory training modules
• Have access to a computer (please note phones and tablets are not suitable devices for completing the modules)
• Be fit and active
• Have documented evidence of receiving a current Influenza and Coronavirus vaccination
