Nazareth Care

We are currently seeking expression of interest from Volunteers to support our Well- being & Lifestyle team at Camberwell.

The purpose of this role is to assist with the transportation of elderly residents to a range of activities including, scenic drives, library or shopping, using the Nazareth Care car or automatic minibus. Your passion and enthusiasm will play a pivotal role in enhancing the social, mental and physical wellbeing of our wonderful residents. You can make all the difference to their day! How wonderful to be able to give back to those that once looked after us!

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Work collaboratively with wellbeing team r and wider Camberwell residents and families. • Engage with residents to enhance their social experience whilst taking them on a journey • Ensure the mini bus/car is parked in front of the house, ready for Carers to transfer residents into the car/mini bus, safely, using the wheelchair ramp, if required. • Transporting residents by mini bus, as a group, exploring Melbourne and surrounds, stopping off from time to time, as directed, to get an ice cream at the drive through.
• Transporting individual residents by car, when pre-arranged and safe to do so, to run errands eg shopping • Complying with environmental and WHS standards, and maintaining compliance • Any other duties as required from time to time.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

• Good understanding of Melbourne location and layout to navigate residents safely to a designated destination • Knowledge and understanding of key local landmarks in the local area would be preferred, but not essential • Well-developed organizational and time management skills to ensure routes are well planned and residents return to the house in due time, safely, as agreed • Understanding of compliance with Health and Safety requirements

• A desire to make a positive difference to someone’s life • A passion to help and assist the elderly with a warm, friendly disposition. • A reasonable level of fitness is an inherent requirement of this role. • Ability to build and maintain effective team relationships at all levels within the organisation. • Strong customer service focus with a “can do” attitude • Demonstrated enthusiasm, commitment to the organisation’s ethos, energy and the ability to work independently and as part of a team • Collaborative working style and willingness to contribute to the team • Good communication and interpersonal skills

STATUTORY OBLIGATIONS

• Clean Driver's License • Have a minimum of 2 years driving experience.

  • Covid-19 vaccine (first dose only)
