Key responsibilities

  • Provide a one-to-one telephone (only) support service to people affected by cancer - includes initial contact and up to six peer support calls per referral
  • Understand and work within Cancer Council SA policy and Peer Connect program guidelines with indirect supervision
  • Complete required paperwork in a timely manner
  • Understand boundaries of role and practice strategies for self-care and protecting own health and safety

This is a telephone based service operated from home. Hours are based on referral numbers and availability by agreement.

Special conditions

  • The successful volunteer would be a minimum of 12 months post completion of their cancer treatment with physical and emotional recovery from their experience
  • The successful volunteer will be a non-smoker
  • Provide a national criminal history check that is less than 6 months old (Cancer Council SA will organise and pay for a national criminal history check for the successful volunteer).
