Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme; Friends for older people

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) is an Australian Government initiative that matches volunteers with older individuals who are at risk of loneliness or social isolation
Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community?
Loneliness is a significant issue for many older adults and our friendly team of ACVVS volunteers provide companionship and emotional support to members of the older community in the north of Adelaide who are experiencing social isolation. We welcome new volunteers who are passionate about making a difference. For as little as one hour per fortnight you can have a profound impact on someone’s life, by becoming an Aged Care Volunteer Visitor, you’ll help reduce isolation, provide companionship, and enhance the well-being of older people in our community.
Our volunteer visits are located either in a recipients home or at a aged care facility located within the Salisbury, Playford, Gawler or Lower-Barossa Council areas.
We make every effort to match volunteers and recipients that may share a common interest, hobby, language, cultural or life experience.
We offer training and on-going support throughout your volunteering experience.
Who can become a Aged Care Volunteer Visitor?
Anyone aged 18 – 100+ who is mature, empathic, kind, has good communication and listening skills and who is willing to provide friendship to a socially isolated older person.
A Police Clearance is necessary prior to beginning your ACVVS visits, please note that these checks can take 2 – 6 weeks to process
