Palliative Care Volunteer
Specific tasks you may do:
- Negotiate a contact schedule and identify the needs of the client or their family/carer/s
- Help with practical tasks such as running errands, preparing food etc
- Assist in getting clients to medical appointments or checking community resources available to them
- Participate in activities such as reading, playing games, writing letters, doing a puzzle etc
- Liaise with our dedicated interdisciplinary team as needed
Volunteers should commit to the client for a minimum of one and up to three hours per week. The volunteer in this role will be extra special as they will need to be able to deal with death and dying and they'll also need to be understanding and accepting of other peoples' beliefs and values.
What impact will you have?
By volunteering in this role you will be making an important contribution to the end-of-lifecare provided to the client, as well as developing rewarding relationships through offering companionship with clients, families and carers.
