Carnegie Toy Library

Are you looking for a simple and social way to give back to the community?

Our community toy library helps local families give their children access to a wide range of quality toys while keeping play affordable and sustainable. For nearly 40 years, the library has been a much-loved part of the community, helping children learn and develop through play.

Our busy borrowing sessions are run by a small team of volunteers, and each volunteer plays an important role in helping the session run smoothly for our members.

What you’ll do

During the session, you’ll help our friendly team with tasks such as:

  • Assisting members with borrowing and returning toys
  • Checking toys back into the system
  • Chatting with members and helping them find toys
  • Helping keep the toy return area organised

This is a simple, social, face-to-face role and a great way to meet local families while supporting a community service.

About you

You’ll likely enjoy this role if you:

  • Enjoy speaking with people and being part of a friendly team
  • Are reliable and happy to help during busy sessions
  • Are comfortable speaking basic English with members
  • Have good attention to detail
