Logo for Lifeline WA (Mandurah)

You will act as companions, confidants, and friends to the older aged individuals, visiting them at least once per fortnight, ideally weekly. You will work to increase the older person's involvement in social activities and community affairs, sharing common interests and taking them on outings if appropriate and safe.

It is important for volunteers to understand the boundaries of the role, such as not providing nursing or personal care, or getting involved in financial and legal affairs. Volunteers will be required to keep a record of visit dates and lengths, respect the older person's rights including confidentiality and privacy, and exercise duty of care at all times by informing the ACVVS Coordinator of any accidents or incidents during visits. Volunteers must also notify the ACVVS Coordinator if there is an intention to stop visiting temporarily or permanently. This role is a valuable opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of older individuals in our community.
