Gardener / lawnmowing for museum

Lithgow Small Arms Factory Museum

We are looking for a volunteer (or volunteers) to help keep our lawns looking their best and to maintain and improve our gardens. Whether you prefer mowing or gardening, it’s entirely up to you. You might even like to volunteer with a friend.

Our visitors sometimes enjoy picnics on our lawns. In the future, we hope to re-open the old Factory Canteen as a food outlet, with a lovely garden and lawn area providing extra seating for museum and canteen guests.

With two resident kangaroos, numerous birds, and a number of blue-tongued lizards, we do not use chemical herbicides such as Roundup. Some knowledge of, or a willingness to learn about, ecological weed control is an advantage.

You can work at times that suit you. The museum is currently open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 4pm, and Saturdays from 10am to 2pm.

Our equipment includes a ride-on lawn mower, hand mowers, a whipper snipper, a petrol mulcher, and hand tools. Protective equipment is provided.

Our meal room is equipped with a microwave oven, fridge, air fryer oven, toaster, and coffee pod machine. Coffee, tea and biscuits are always available.
