Hastings Toy Library

Logo for Hastings Toy Library

Hastings Toy Library is a non-profit, community based organisation that provides a toy lending service to families in the Hastings & surrounds community. We provide a wide range of good quality educational, social and recreational toys that may be beyond the resources of the average family.

We are looking for volunteers to assist with running a borrowing session once a week or fortnight during school terms.

A volunteer session assistant helps with the borrowing and returns of toys for a minimum of two hours per week or fortnight during school terms. Our sessions are run on Tuesday afternoons, Thursday and Saturday mornings.

All borrowing and returns are recorded using an online borrowing system. Once toys are returned volunteers check all the parts are included and they are clean before returning them to the shelves.

Other tasks include welcoming and chatting to members, recommending toys if you feel comfortable doing so, processing of new toys and some customer service. Training is provided in all of these areas.

In line with our child safety and operational policies, volunteers over 18 years of age require Working With Children Checks.

We are happy to host students who require volunteer hours for their studies or young people working towards awards with organisations such as Scouts and Guides.

Please contact us if you are interested in this opportunity.
