About the Role

The IT Support Volunteer will work with the ICT Services Coordinator and the rest of the IT team to ensure that team activities are completed and responsibilities are met. The focus of the IT Support Volunteer will be the provision of first level support and the implementation of IT-related projects.

About the Program

Staff and volunteers rely heavily on the ASRC’s computer system for research, communication, data storage and other essential tasks that keep the centre’s programs running smoothly. The IT Program is charged with availability, performance, security and maintenance of the production Windows environment of the ASRC and where applicable ensuring that these production services meet or exceed their prescribed service levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fixing hardware and software problems
  • Installing new servers, workstation, printer and network hardware
  • Implementing new software installs and updates
  • End user training for database and other application software
  • Creating and deleting network and email/calendar accounts
  • Maintaining mail groups and resource calendars
  • Other tasks as required

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting items between 5-12kg
  • Bending
  • Kneeling

What we're looking for

  • Sound problem solving skills
  • Excellent customer focus and keen attention to detail
  • Good communications skills
  • Good personal organisation, time management skills and motivation to continually improve
  • Experience in IT service delivery
  • Understanding of computer hardware, Windows-family workstation and server operating systems, Microsoft Office applications
