Social Support Group Volunteer

Peninsula Health's Social Support Group is a Community Health Centre based support service that is designed to:
- provide an opportunity for people to meet together to participate in activities of their choice
- assist in maintaining independence and social involvement of those who attend
- provide carers with support and day respite
- provide skill retention and development, outings and a range of activities, promoting self-esteem to clients.
Volunteer Position Aim: • To create a welcoming atmosphere for clients by being a friendly face and helping hand • To assist the SSG Staff with daily activities & outings • To encourage clients to be as independent as possible. • To stimulate and encourage conversation
A variety of roles available: Helping out in groups to play boards games, doing craft and gardening, driving or accompanying a 12 seater bus to pick up/drop off participants, assisting the cook in the kitchen, or sharing a skill such as painting, woodwork or a musical instrument. There’s something for everyone!
All volunteers receive a warm lunch on group days and costs are supplemented for outings.
