Organisation Description
The FILLS program aims to ensure students of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, living in or around the City of Maribyrnong, are supported to achieve their full educational potential. We are currently in need of volunteers to assist newly arrived families according to the following program objectives:

- Improved literacy and numeracy outcomes for primary & secondary school students

- Development of early years school readiness

- Parents and children engaged in a cross-cultural community environment

- Improved retention outcomes for secondary school students

- Improved access to tertiary pathways for secondary college students
Position description

Volunteer tutors commit to attending each Friday afternoon of the school term between 4:00 and 5:30pm at the Braybrook Community Hub on Churchill Avenue.

Support early years, primary or secondary school students, from refugee and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, with homework and enhanced literacy and numeracy. This will be delivered through a range of learning activities linked to the curriculum of participating schools.
Other requirement:
- Working with Children Check (free for volunteers)
- Referee and short application required
