Helpline volunteers need patience, a clear telephone voice and must enjoy talking to people of all backgrounds. Often callers may be distressed so a calm disposition is useful. Basic computer skills are required. Training is provided and there is strong support from other volunteers and staff. Wildlife knowledge is not essential, but a desire to learn about and help native wildlife is. All training is provided on the job.

Key Tasks

Commit to a regular weekly shift; Participate in on-the-job training; Answer the telephone; Provide general wildlife specific advice; Refer the caller to relevant organisations; Provide links to other useful resources; Enter required data.

WA Wildlife a non profit organisation that provides medical care and rehabilitation services for injured native wildlife in the south metropolitan region. Native Arc receives injured wildlife from a range of sources including the general public, veterinary clinics, local councils, rangers and other wildlife centres.
