Driving Support - Mirrabooka

We are seeking patient and supportive volunteers to join our Driver Support Program in Mirrabooka. This rewarding program helps learner drivers from Refugee and Newly Arrived Migrant backgrounds gain the supervised driving practice required to complete the 50 hours needed for their practical driving assessment.
Many participants have limited opportunities to practice driving or limited English, making the support of a volunteer invaluable.
As a Driver Support, you will:
- Supervise learner drivers during practice sessions in a purpose-fitted program vehicle.
- Help participants build safe driving skills, confidence and road awareness.
- Encourage and support learners as they work towards obtaining their driver's licence.
- Build positive, respectful relationships that empower participants to achieve greater independence.
A purpose-fitted vehicle is provided and based in Mirrabooka, and full training, orientation and ongoing support are available.
About You:
- Compassionate and patient
- Have a person-centred approach
- Understanding/willingness to learn about the experiences of Refugee and Newly arrived migrants
- Willingness to learn about trauma-informed approach
