The Community Learning team is currently recruiting Community Programs Volunteers to deliver regular sewing workshops and advisory sessions at the Parks Library.

We are looking for volunteers who have a passion for sharing their skills with the community, as well as patience to teach and guide beginners. Volunteers are not expected to be experts, however a good level of sewing skills is preferable.

Responsibilities

  • Support the City of PAE Libraries Community Learning team to deliver lifelong learning opportunities to the community.
  • Assist with the set up and pack up of equipment and materials
  • Facilitate sewing workshops, sharing how to operate a sewing machine safely, the basic functions of the Brother Sewing Machine, and how to do simple sewing projects such as making adjustments to clothing.
  • Staff will support volunteers with preparation and group facilitation as required.

Requirements and Conditions

  • National Police Check
  • DHS Working with Children Check

When and Where

  • Workshops generally run for up to 2 hours on Tuesdays and Sundays. Additional days and times can be negotiable, during normal Library operating hours.

  • Volunteers will be based at Parks Library initially, with the option to offer workshops at Enfield, Greenacres or Port Adelaide Libraries if desired.
