Volunteer Driver
Little Wings is an Australian children’s charity that provides free, professional and safe air and ground transport for seriously ill children and their families living in regional and remote QLD, NSW and ACT.
Our mission is to ensure that children who need specialised medical care in major children's hospitals can access it, no matter how far from the city they live.
Volunteer Driver – Little Wings
As a Volunteer Driver with Little Wings, you will play a vital role in supporting seriously ill children and their families. You will be responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient transport of families from Archerfield Airport to Queensland Children’s Hospital. Your support gives families strength, stability and care when they are facing the toughest moments of their lives.
A Little Wings vehicle and full training are provided.
What the Role Involves
- Working on a roster, completing 1–3 drives per fortnight
- Each round trip generally takes 3–4 hours, occurring 7 days a week, usually between 9am–5pm
- Providing warm, supportive interaction with families from diverse backgrounds
- Ensuring safe, confident operation of an 8 seater van
Requirements
- Current, valid unrestricted full Australian Driver’s Licence
- Traffic history report from the Department of Main Roads
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
- National Police Check
- Minimum 2 years driving experience with excellent skills and an exemplary record
- Confidence and competence driving a larger vehicle (8 seater van)
