The Women’s Information Service has been providing information to South Australian women since 1978.
The aim of the service is to increase access to information that promotes choice and empowerment.
Volunteers at Women's Information Service (WIS) are highly valued and make a difference to the lives of many women in South Australia.
The Volunteer program WIS offer comprehensive training as well as mentoring and support so the volunteering experience is the best it can be.
This volunteer role is based at Aldinga Beach Children's Centre, involving the following:
- Speak to women coming in/ over phone and listen to what is happening in their lives - give referrals to services that could help them.
- Plan, join or facilitate a program to connect with women in the centre.
- Contribute to the recording of accurate daily statistics.
- Source opportunities to promote WIS in the wider community.
- Promote WIS services to local community with WIS talks and stall to community/to service providers/ to students.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of community programs and local services and acts as resource in the community
- Assist HCP/Children centre with different tasks.
- Assist with general office duties as required, eg filing, photocopying and perform other duties as required
- Participate in ongoing development programs and capacity building training
- Attend volunteer meetings as scheduled.
