Community Food Rescue Driver
Mount Gravatt Community Centre is seeking reliable and community-minded volunteers to join our Food Rescue program. As a Community Food Rescue Driver, you'll collect donated food from local supermarkets, businesses, and community partners, helping to ensure quality food reaches individuals and families who need it most. This is a rewarding role that combines driving, community connection, and practical support for a vital local service.
What you'll be doing
- Driving one of our Centre vehicles to collect donated food from partner locations.
- Loading and unloading food donations safely
- Delivering rescued food to the Community Centre
- Assisting with basic sorting and storage of collected items when required
- Helping reduce food waste while supporting community wellbeing.
Skills and Experience
- Current Australian driver's licence
- Comfortable driving a van or small commercial vehicle
- Reasonable level of physical fitness, including lifting crates and food boxes
- Reliable, punctual, and organised
- Friendly and able to communicate respectfully with a diverse range of people
- Commitment to safe driving and workplace safety practices
