During Spring and Summer we will be receiving 60 to 70 calls per day for wildlife in need. Many of these calls we can resolve by giving advice to the member of the public calling in. Other cases require a volunteer to contain and/or transport the animal or bird to a vet or wildlife carer. This is where you come in.

We communicate open cases with an alert system using a smartphone and app. As these cases come in you will be required to triage cases based on your current location and the criticality of the case. Your shift will start at 9 am and finish at 5 pm, where you will be required to cover as many open cases as you can safely.

You will receive training in rescue, assessment and first care to enable you to make good decisions in the best interests of the animal in need.

You will have a current South Australian Drivers Licence and will need to obtain a current (3 years from the date of issue) National Police Check if you are successful in your application.

You need to own a smartphone and be comfortable with learning new technologies.

You must have good "customer service" skills to maintain SOWFI's good reputation working with the public and vet industry.

SOWFI is a Member Organisation and you must become a member to volunteer with us. Annual membership fees are $55 ($45 conc)
