The Sustainable Sewing Volunteer works alongside other volunteers to support participants in our free Friday Sustainable Sewing program. The role provides practical sewing advice, guidance and assistance while encouraging creativity, sustainable practices and community connection. Experience and confidence with sewing and basic sewing equipment required alongside a willingness to share sewing skills and support people with different levels of experience.

Key Tasks
Set up and pack down sewing machines, textiles, tools and equipment. Assist participants with sewing techniques, education and practical skills. Provide guidance and support with sewing projects. Encourage participants to develop their confidence, creativity and sewing skills. Promote sustainable sewing practices, including reuse, repair and upcycling of textiles.

The Hamilton Hill Community Hub is a place where the community can meet and enjoy a range of activities. The local community is welcome to take part in free workshops and events that are held on site or book a room to hold a community event or meeting.
