About BCH BCH is a major provider of primary health services to the Bellarine Peninsula, operating from five health centres: Drysdale (two sites), Ocean Grove, Point Lonsdale and Portarlington. BCH employs around 175 staff supported by 90 volunteers. BCH provides health and support services for all Bellarine communities including primary and specialist care for children, youth and adults. Some services focus on health promotion and prevention, including to keep people living well at home.

Volunteer Role Summary Volunteer and a staff member will pick up clients from their home or designated pick-up point and take them to the relevant BCH program or outing and take the client home at the conclusion of the program.

Key Responsibilities • Drive in accordance with proper safety precautions to ensure the safe transport of clients and obey all road laws. Any traffic infringements will be the responsibility of the driver. • Maintain appropriate records such as vehicle log book. • Ensure interior of vehicles are cleaned at the end of each shift eg floors swept etc. • Ensure all passengers get on and off the buses in a safe manner. • Ensure that all passengers are wearing their seatbelt and abiding safety procedures. • Fold walking frames and secure them in the bus. • Report any wellbeing, health or safety concerns regarding a passenger to staff or Program Supervisor. • Immediately report incidences, accidents or concerns to staff or Program Supervisor. • Volunteers are expected to work within BCH values and always operate under the BCH Code of Conduct. • Volunteers are to abide by BCH Volunteer Policy and guidelines. • Notify staff or supervisor if you will be unavailable for your shift e.g. holidays.

Day, time, location • Vehicles to be picked up and returned to Pt Lonsdale and/or Portarlington • Hours are variable, however regular availability in set times is preferred.

Skills, experience, qualities and/or qualifications • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence • Drivers will undertake a Police Check • Good fitness level • Good listening skills • Respect for privacy and confidentiality • Pleasant manner • Sound judgement and common sense • Friendly nature with customer service approach and ability to relate to diverse members of the community • Cooperative and flexible approach in working with community members and staff
