The Reception and Administrative volunteers assist in the day-to-day clerical duties in the reception and administrative areas of the Hospice. They are usually the first point of contact either on the telephone or in the building, as their duties often take them to all parts of the Hospice. Appropriate dress, manner and attitude are therefore important. • Phone calls: Answering the Telephone, Answer the telephone, mindful of phone etiquette, privacy and confidentiality. If the caller wishes to speak to a client, pass the phone to the RN. o Ensure all messages, including return phone numbers, are recorded on the carbonised message pad and passed on to the appropriate person. • Visitors: o Greet visitors appropriately and ensure they sign the Visitors' Book and perform hand hygiene.
