St Vincent de Paul Society is committed to offering a “hand up” to people in need, rather than just a handout. This mission is carried out by respecting every person’s human dignity, sharing hope and encouraging individuals to take control of their own lives. The Society’s work is grounded in values such as compassion, respect, integrity, empathy, advocacy and courage.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing of others while staying active and engaged in a purposeful environment. We welcome professionals from all backgrounds (managers, lawyers, accountants, teachers, leaders, financial counsellors, nurses, engineers, medical professionals, marketing and sales experts and more). Your knowledge and life experience are invaluable assets that can help support individuals and families in need.
In this role, you will be involved in interviewing and assessing clients who visit our Support Centre seeking Emergency Relief assistance. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to our Committee, with the option to take on roles and responsibilities as they become available. There is no pressure to commit beyond your comfort level, your involvement is entirely based on your interest and availability. Basic computer skills and familiarity with databases are helpful, but not essential, as training will be provided alongside your work.
We offer a supportive and welcoming environment where you can learn at your own pace and feel confident in your contributions. If you’re ready to put your years of experience to valuable use and help strengthen the community you live in, we would love to hear from you.
