Vinnies Roadhouse Volunteer

Through our members, volunteers and staff, the St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn has been serving the local community since 1924. We provide practical support, advocacy and friendship to people experiencing disadvantage, helping to create stronger and more connected communities.
As a Roadhouse Volunteer, you will play an important role in supporting one of Vinnies' frontline community services. Volunteers work under the direction and guidance of their supervisor and alongside fellow volunteers to help create a welcoming environment while providing practical assistance to people accessing the service.
Responsibilities:
- Distribute afternoon tea, including tea and coffee
- Assist with the distribution of material aid, including clothing and essential items through the clothes-giving cupboard
- Assist with the distribution of food and pantry items to companions accessing the service
- Assist with the general upkeep of Roadhouse facilities, including setting up and packing down food service areas and wiping down tables
- Support the kitchen team as needed, including washing dishes and occasional kitchen hand duties
- Prepare and pack tea and coffee packs
- Assist with food pantry organisation and stock management
- Build respectful and supportive relationships with companions, contributing to a safe and inclusive community space
