Volunteer Qualities - Caring, compassionate and with a genuine desire to spend time with aged care residents to supplement the care and support provided by staff.
Tasks - Provide companionship and conversation by regularly visiting people, particularly those who may be lonely or socially isolated.
Being actively involved in recreational activities in a home like environment such as:-
- playing board games
- supporting residents to do art and craft activities
- Interacting with residents to stimulate and enrich their minds – e.g. reading stories, doing puzzles and quizzes
- assisting with morning/afternoon teas and dinner parties
- interacting with pet and animal therapies
- assisting residents on social outings
