Volunteer Visitors are needed to change the lives of people living in Residential Aged Care. Spend time with one or a small group of residents to build friendships and help out in a range of different activities to suit your interests.

Our Anam Cara Aged Care Community is situated at 42-52 Lavarack Road, Bray Park, and is looking for Volunteer Visitors to spend time with residents in the following ways:

  • Volunteer Visitor for visits with individual residents

We are looking for Volunteer Visitors interested in providing ongoing friendship and company to an older person living in our residential aged care communities at risk of isolation. Time spent together can include chatting, playing games, going for a walk, working on a hobby, etc. or spending time together in one of the activities happening within the aged care community. Volunteer Visitor hours are available Monday to Friday between 9am and 3:30pm and times are negotiated prior to commencement. Visits are around one hour per week or fortnight.

  • Volunteer Visitors for visits with small groups of residents

We are looking for Volunteer Visitors who would like to spend regularly scheduled time with small groups of residents to facilitate activities such as bingo, board games, discussion groups, reading a book, men’s shed, craft, singalong or an activity of your choice; all ideas are welcome! Volunteer Visitor hours are available Monday to Friday between 9am and 3:30pm and times are negotiated prior to the activity.

  • Musician Volunteer Visitor

We are seeking volunteers who are talented at playing a musical instrument such as a piano or guitar. Commitment is flexible to suit your availability. Volunteer Visitor hours are available weekdays, Monday to Friday, between 9:30am and 12 noon and times are negotiated prior to the activity.

  • Memory Support Volunteer Visitor

We’re looking for special Volunteer Visitors with insight into how aged care residents with dementia see and experience the world around them by spending an hour per week or fortnight visiting and forming friendships with individual residents or small groups of residents. Volunteer Visitor hours are available weekdays, Monday to Friday, between 9am and 3pm and times are negotiated prior to the activity.

  • Volunteer Visitors for BBQs!

We are seeking Volunteer Visitors to assist with the monthly BBQ for residents by escorting and spending time with individual residents or small groups and helping with the BBQ activities. Enjoy lunch while making new friends on the fourth Tuesday of every month from 11am till 1pm.

Volunteer Visitors follow a COVID-19 safe work plan and are not involved in providing personal care to the people they visit.

Wesley Mission Queensland is a welcoming and rewarding place to be a Volunteer Visitor, where you will meet many wonderful people and learn new skills that may assist you personally and professionally.

We look forward to hearing from you!
