Become a 'Friends of Parks' volunteer at Mapleton Falls National Park and help the local Rangers with a variety of activities that will benefit a much-loved rainforest ecosystem on the Blackall Range.

These tasks may include:

  • manual removal of various weeds
  • minor maintenance and repairs to the walking track
  • maintenance tasks including oiling of picnic tables and painting orientation signs
  • native revegetation and planting
  • rubbish collection
  • recording of fauna and flora observations, and more

Over time we hope the group develops a connection with the area and continues to gain knowledge and appreciation for this national park.

As a volunteer, you can expect to:

  • make connections with like-minded people and other local environmental groups;
  • learn about the different ecosystems and identify native and invasive species that exist within the park;
  • gain hands-on experience with safe work methods and best practice environmental management and trail building techniques;
  • enjoy being active outdoors and feel good about helping the environment;
  • meet local QPWS Rangers who manage these areas.
