Are you passionate about restoring threatened ecosystems and protecting local fauna and bushland? Do you thrive in a team environment? Join Friends of Lagoon Creek on Tuesday's as a Volunteer Bush Regenerator! Our mission is to conserve and restore the natural areas along Lagoon Creek, which is home to endangered and threatened vegetation, plants, and fauna species. This is your chance to make a tangible difference while working with a fantastic team of like-minded individuals.

You will need to be moderately physically fit to work outdoors and undertake moderately paced activities. Gardening or Landcare experience is highly desirable.

Restore Native Vegetation: Proactively plant native species, control invasive weeds, seed collect for restoration projects, remove litter and contribute to the overall health of local ecosystems.

Protect Threatened Species: Help create and maintain habitats for iconic species such as our carnivorous marsupials, gliders, koala and the platypus, to only mention a few species whose survival depends certain environments found within the reserve

**Rehabilitate Waterways: **Participate in projects aimed at improving the health and biodiversity of Lagoon Creek’s waterways.

Community Engagement: Work alongside passionate volunteers and engage with the community to raise awareness about the importance of habitat restoration and species protection.

**Learn & Grow: **Gain hands-on experience in bush regeneration techniques, plant identification, and sustainable land management.

In more detail you will learn about:

  • Invasive weed identification and control methods for various restricted and environmental weeds common in Brisbane and Sunshine Coast areas that impact on natural areas.

  • Ethical weed control treatments. Manual and Herbicide control methods. Learn various other restoration practices that assist weed control and weed suppression

  • Native plant restoration uses and Habitat restoration. Tree planting and Planting maintenance. General plant care. Cultural Information on plant species, such as environmental adaptations, ecolological and environmental roles. Plant morphology and physiology, plant reproduction, plant requirements, erosion control, biofiltration etc

  • Industry standard biosecurity, environmental protection laws, OHS protocols and standard operating procedures for industry equipment (Brushcutters, mechanical augers etc) and chemical handling.

  • Native and invasive plant Identification. Local fauna and habitat ID and fauna monitoring

  • Site assessment, site reporting and site management practices

  • Vegetation types and regional ecosystems and some GIS mapping. Basic structural understanding of various vegetation types and general environmental conditions and their influence on vegetation composition
