About us: International Volunteers for Peace (IVP) is a non-profit local community group. It focuses on organising volunteering opportunities around worthwhile community needs and causes, for which it recruits participants from Australia and all across the world through its global network.

IVP is the Australian branch for Service Civil International (SCI), with Branches in 44 countries and 106 Partners and Contacts in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. More than 5000 volunteers participate in hundreds of volunteer projects each year.

IVP is also a member of Network for Voluntary Development in Asia (NVDA) which is a network of international voluntary service (IVS) NGOs in Asia & Oceania.

IVP activities are aimed at encouraging understanding among peoples and promoting discussion and an appreciation of the problems that different communities face in their struggles for social justice and environmental harmony.

IVP exchanges volunteers through our international networks, Service Civil International and Network for Volunteer Development in Asia.  More than 5000 volunteers participate in community projects in over 106 countries each year.

We are looking for someone who:

  • aligns with the IVP mission
  • is prepared to take an active role in the organisation
  • good communication and coordination skills
  • needs to be able to join as a committee member and member of IVP
  • is able to attend our regular monthly meetings (virtual)
  • ideally has performed this role before, which would be appreciated but not essential.
  • has an interest in cross-cultural or international volunteering
  • enjoys working collaboratively with a friendly group of people of diverse background

The role:  Duties include:

  • Preparing the agenda for monthly committee meetings
  • Taking minutes and sending them out for approval in a timely manner
  • File relevant docs, currently in Google Drive (legal requirement)
  • Attending monthly meeting and take part in decision making
  • This is an executive position, so requires being a member of IVP and the committee.

Time commitment: We ask for 10 -12 hours per month.  The role can be completed from home.
